Sandwich : Fat Salt & Flame

© copyright 2013 wiki
Introducing Sandwich, a Filipino indie alternative rock band lead by Raimund Marasigan (lead vocals, synth, guitars), Diego Castillo (guitar), Mong Alcaraz (guitar), Myrene Academia (bass), & Mike Dizon (drums).

Pre-Sandwich Timeline
The band formed in 1998, with former vocalist Marc Abaya leading the band. They then released Grip Stand Throw - their debut album, and gained popular local indie alternative mainstream footing, thanks to the then local rock radio NU107. Singles were played, the band then gaining traction, with the carrier hit single "Butterfly Carnival".

Moving Forward

Fast forward to 2013: Raimund on the lead. As a band, they singularly took courage, pouring a creative, smooth-flowing vibe of trendiness no one can even beg to disagree.

Fat Salt & Flame is the band's 7th studio album, with 9 tracks, each flourished with catchy drumbeats, heartfelt riffs, soul shattering emotional drive that takes any one, who listens, into cloud 9 (come on now, put that headset on, lie down on your couch, and turn up the volume to 9)

Sound Buzz
Here's my top sounding track list for this album:

** Back For More (2:40)
An opener, saying to everyone who missed them "hey, we're back! and we got this entire album covered with enthusiasm, it passes on to you, too!"

** Kidlat (4:14)
This song reminds me of not giving your hopes up, as there's this mighty force in the universe that gives you what you wish, thinking positively, and you'll get this! It let's you come to think to not underestimate your overflowing luck and potential within.

** Mayday (3:47)
Listen to that dark theme, surrounded with gray shaded view on everything. And I can't stop but notice that off handed guitar riff that shines and peeks out in the intro.

** Pray For Today (5:16)
Ever wondered why space can't contain any sounds? Because of vacuum you may say. Well, this song is enclosed with eerie hooks and intriguing melody, with every tune playing with your head. Bizarre power lead, that enticing loop makes my body just go with the flow!

** The Week After (3:41)
You picture yourself going to places you've never been. You trek, you backpack, hit the road, follow that forest trail. This song makes you think what'll happen next, after this meeting is done, after this test is over.

 ** Manhid (4:57)
A promising expression, with out-of-nowhere starting lines. Why am I so in to these dark, grayish sound fetish, lol, but I say it is now stuck in my syndrome of last songs. This track right here, makes you crave for beer. Cheers!

** New Romancer (3:21)
The cute, new gen love song, that pretty much catches the hearts of millennials. This track is daring, will get you hooked, and makes you want to push your sound barriers to your limits, call it the new age bizarre love triangle of today's generation!
